Become a Volunteer Supporter for Community Connections

Dyslexia Canada is seeking parents and caregivers of children with dyslexia to become Volunteer Supporters for other parents and caregivers across Canada. If you have 5 hours per month and are interested in sharing your experience with others, apply today.

About the role

  • The Volunteer Supporter’s role is to provide support for parents and caregivers that have a family member living with dyslexia.

  • Allow approximately 1 hour per week to meet with and support your peer.

  • You will offer your support via phone, email or video conference.

  • The support provided can be multifaceted-emotional, social and informational.

  • Volunteer Supporters will receive training along with resources to support their peers throughout their relationship.

Please note, Volunteer Supporter and Peer relationships are not professional. We recognize that some Volunteer Supporters may have professional affiliations (medical professionals, educators, tutors); however, the role of the Volunteer Supporter within the Community Connections program is to offer support and not professional guidance.
